Summative Performance Unit Assessment
The students will creatively find a way to represent a specific ecosystem that includes all the aspects studied during this unit. They can use whatever materials or platform they wish, as long as all requirements are met. The goal is for them to compile each component of this lesson into one project.
Necessary Components:
- Choose one specific ecosystem (examples: desert, forest, ocean, etc.)
- Include at least 7 organisms and other necessary components of the ecosystem (plants, animals, sun, water, etc.)
- Show how energy is transferred through the system (the amount and where it transferred to)
- Show the movement of matter (similar to the transfer of energy, but make sure the students differentiate them)
- Creativity in the representation of this ecosystem.
Rubric:
Use each of the components listed and create a scale for grading 1-5. Give students clear expectations for a 5 so that you are unbiased and clear in your grading.
